Checklist for Selling a Home

Selling a home is demanding and it involves a lot of process. Keeping on top of things will make your selling experience better. At J Michael Manley Team, we’d like your selling experience less stressful. Having a checklist to keep tabs of your progress can help avoid time delays, downsides, and aggravation that can happen any time during your home selling period.

Check list for selling a houseHere’s a checklist to help you started in the home selling process:

 

✔ Do your research. The internet is full of information about home selling ideas, tips, and you can also access real estate market information.  It is good to be an informed seller.
 
✔  Decide if you are going to work with an agent or if you’re going to sell your home on your own. If you decide to hire an agent, look for an agent that knows your local market and someone you can comfortably work with.
 
✔  Be knowledgeable on how to price your home correctly. This is important because it will determine the success of selling your home. An overpriced listing can turn off potential buyers.
 
✔ Clean and declutter. An organized home and decluttered home gives a good impression to buyers.
 
✔ Decide whether you’d do a prelisting inspection. If your home is older, you should consider this. It is also good for marketing if the buyers already know the home is pre-inspected. It is also good to identify the flaw of your home at an early stage so you can fix it.
 
✔ Create an effective marketing plan if you’re selling on your own.
 
✔ Maintain the house in ‘showcase’ condition. You have to constantly make a good impression as soon as you start showing your home.
 
✔ When it is time to negotiate, familiarize yourself with contracts and learn how to deal with offers. If you are working with an agent, he/she can help you with this.
 
✔ Make moving plans early. If you need to move quickly you can choose to buy and sell at the same time, you can also ask your agent for advice so you’ll know your options.
