‘A picture paints a thousand words…’
In the real estate market, this famous line truly applies.
Buyers searching properties online are more visually oriented. The first thing that catches their attention is the picture. Think about putting a lousy picture on your listing and just took the shots using a point-and-shoot camera, poor lighting, wrong angle, and gloomy shadows. It will just take one look and you will lose that opportunity to sell. What they’ll do is just moved on to the next listing with more appealing pictures.
A study has been done by Redfin Corp., a Seattle-based brokerage and reported that real-estate listings that use photographs taken by the higher-end SLR or DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras tend to do better than those that use photos from point-and-shoot cameras. This just proves that buyers favor listings with great photos which in turn drive traffic for the home and set a higher expectation for the buyers- expectations like paying higher for the home. Listings with better photos command higher asking prices!
