Greenville County continues to grow as population shows an increase of 23,047 between the date of the 2000 census and July 2013.
Births contributed to the population growth with 19,968 recorded births. The most recent census shows 6,211 births from July 2012 to July 2013.
Bob Mihalic, spokesman for Greenville County said that the birth element would be a pretty good indication that young people are finding employment opportunities and enjoying the quality of life in Greenville to decide raising families here.
Migration also contributed to the growth. 3,665 people moved here from other states from July 1, 2012 to July 1, 2013. There are 14,759 recorded people moving to Greenville County in the past three years.
South Carolina ranked No. 11 in the nation in total population growth, adding 149,447 people, according to the census figures.
