The minute you walk into Exchange Co. you know you want to forgo the to-go cup, the brick exterior and interior of the coffee shop is charming and inviting you would want to stay for a while. Exchange and Co. recently opened last February and it’s a new addition to the thriving business scene in Simpsonville’s Main Street.
The Food
Looking for your weekend morning coffee spot? Look no further. Exchange and Co. is your place. Choose from latte, cappuccino, or espresso and drink it with their delicious crepes. All made in house and gluten-free. Michael and Roxanne Bacaro, owners of the coffee shop, pride themselves in using the highest quality ingredients with no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives.
Can baked goods taste good without gluten? Wait until you taste their crepes, their Cinnamon Rolls and Nutella Banana Crepes are the best sellers, so good you wouldn’t even realize it’s gluten-free.
If you’re looking to try a unique drink, try their refreshing glass of iced hibiscus tea. Its ruby red color is alluring and its flavor; honey sweetened and lemony.
The chalk boards display all the variety of drinks and baked goods they offer, and mind you, don’t expect a long elaborated menu. When asked why they keep their menu simple, Michael says, “we seek to keep our menu simple yet executed well. Some shops offer so much variety it is difficult to decide what you want. Also we feel like we would rather offer fewer drinks that are executed really well verses too many drinks not prepared so well.”
Even so, Exchanges and Co’s menu is unique and not something you will find in other coffee shops.
The Mission
What sets Exchange Co. apart from other coffee shops in Simpsonville? It is more than just a coffee shop. It is one thing to put up a restaurant as an outlet of one’s passion for creating good food, it’s another when the restaurant was built because you want to help the fatherless children. Such is the story behind Exchange Co.
Michael and Roxanne Bacaro seek to support and raise awareness of adoption and foster care in the Upstate. For every cup of coffee they sell, a portion of it goes to help support the cause.
“Our mission is to create a culture of living our lives in exchange for others. We seek to foster this culture to help support the fatherless in our community.” Michael says.
The business is getting positive feedback from the community and it is just the start. It was just a matter of time before the rest of Simpsonville figured it out and enjoy a great cup of drink knowing you’re helping support a cause.
