Summer has begun! This is one the moments when you dream of swimming in the beach’s cool pristine water to cool down however; sometimes a trip to the beach just isn’t in the cards and finding a swimming hole that is not yet dried up will take much of your energy. In this case, there’s no better option than to hit the nearest water park. Thankfully, we have them in the Upstate and you can take your pick!
Whether you’re just looking for a pool to swim laps in or you want to play and be a little adventurous while slipping down the slide, there’s a water park in the Upstate for you. So before the mercury burst the thermometer from heat, throw on your bathing suit, grab a towel and find your perfect spot in one of the Upstate’s cool water parks.
Discovery Island
Enjoy the water at Discovery Island. Bring the family and have fun in the sun. The kids will surely love the Lazy River, Flow Rider, and play area with water cannons. There’s a 30+ foot high tower water slides for those who love to slip and slide. Located in Simpsonville, the pool at Discovery Island provides the perfect opportunity to cool down after a busy week.

Otter Creek
This is a great water park for children. There are three big slides, one kiddy slide, big 3 feet pool, and fountains. Otter Creek is big enough to accommodate a crowd of swimmers. This water park is more geared for children but adults can still enjoy dipping in the water and sliding down the ‘ultimate drop.’

Ready to slide into a vortex before dropping into an 8 feet pool? This is the 7th Inning Splash main attraction. There are other slides too and large swimming pool with lanes. Kids and adults will enjoy this park. Come before it gets crowded.

It is one of the popular water recreations in the Upstate that everyone can enjoy. This pirate-themed water park has lazy river, slides and kiddie pool play area. You’ll want to get to the pool to celebrate the beginning, middle and end of summer.

Y Waterworks at the Anderson Area YMCA
Anderson and YMCA members flock to this park in summer days. There’s a 30-foot-high tower with double slides, kiddie pool and play area for all ages to enjoy. Admission to Waterworks is, however, limited to members of the YMCA and their guests.
